Innoson Group is an indigenous privately owned Nigerian group of companies with interests that span various strategic manufacturing concerns, including automobile, tire and tubes, plastics and motorcycles.
What began as motorcycle spare parts retailing/trading has not just become a leading proponent of made in Nigeria products within its almost 4 decades of being in business. It has also grown to be one of Nigeria’s biggest industrial success story.
Dissatisfied with the ever increasing cost of imported foreign used [tokunbo] motorcycles as well as the brand new ones, its founder, Dr Innocent Chukwuma (OFR) took a major leap of faith that permanently altered the history and course of the Innoson Group.
Today, Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing, (IVM), its flagship brand and arguably the first and biggest indigenous vehicle manufacturing company has proved that impossibility only exists in the mind of no-dreamers. IVM could be seen across the Nigerian armed force formations as automobile brand 0f choice and also to several government ministries, companies and individuals.
Innoson started with the local assembly of motorcycles in Nigeria, and was able to crash the prices to as low as 40-50%, while still maintaining the same quality as the foreign brands. This audacious move saw the complete eradication of foreign-used motorcycles in Nigeria.
The same strategy was approached in the vehicle manufacturing part of the group whose purpose is to drive the Nigerian economy forward through industrialization, technology transfer and job creation.
IVM product line includes heavy duty vehicles, middle and high level buses, special environment friendly vehicles.
Others are, Innoson Technical & Industrial Co. Ltd – which manufactures household and industrial plastics, health & safety accessories, storage containers, fixtures & fittings, electrical components & accessories. Plastic products, include; plastic chairs, tables, trays, plates, spoons, cups, jerry cans of different sizes etc
