Coca-Cola Nigeria Limited.
Coca-Cola Nigeria has consistently maintained its position as the most valuable beverage brand in Nigeria, a status that is further reaffirmed by its performance in the annual Top Brands Evaluation. This leadership in not only through its diverse product offerings but also through its significant contributions to Nigeria’s economy and sustainability efforts.
As one of the most valuable brands in Nigeria, Coca-Cola, along with its bottling partner, the Nigerian Bottling Company (NBC), has been a cornerstone of the Nigerian economy since 1951. The company provides direct employment to over 5,000 people and indirectly supports the livelihoods of approximately 10 million individuals across its value chain.
In recent years, Coca-Cola Nigeria has intensified its sustainability efforts, particularly in addressing plastic waste management, a critical issue in Nigeria where approximately 2.5 million metric tonnes of plastic waste are generated annually. In collaboration with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and TechnoServe Nigeria, Coca-Cola launched the Nigeria Plastic Solutions Activity (NPSA) initiative. This $4 million initiative aims to recover around 49,000 metric tonnes of plastic waste, create over 10,000 green jobs, and promote a circular economy in Nigeria.
Coca-Cola’s commitment to sustainability is also evident through initiatives like Project Revive, which was launched in partnership with RecyclePoints. This initiative incentivizes communities in Lagos to recycle plastic waste by offering monetary rewards, thereby driving both environmental sustainability and economic empowerment. Since its inception, Project Revive has employed over 660 women and youths, collected 158.60 tons of recyclables, and generated substantial income for participating communities.
Furthermore, Coca-Cola’s philanthropic arm, The Coca-Cola Foundation, continues to make a significant impact in Nigeria through various community projects. The Foundation has contributed over $10.8 million in grants to local NGOs, supporting projects like the Safe Birth Initiative, Project EQUIP, and numerous recycling and economic empowerment initiatives, ensuring a positive and lasting impact across Nigerian communities.
Through these efforts, Coca-Cola Nigeria remains not just a beverage leader but a key player in driving sustainable development and social progress in the country.
