Nigerian Breweries Plc: Crafting Excellence in Brewing
Nigerian Breweries Plc (NB) is a trailblazing subsidiary of Heineken N.V and the premier brewing company in Nigeria. With an illustrious legacy that span decades, NB stands as the vanguard of brewing excellence, serving both the local market and international clientele.
NB’s domain encompasses the art of brewing, masterful marketing. The roster of its popular brands includes iconic names such as Star lager beer, Gulder, Maltina, Legend Extra Stout, Amstel Malta, Heineken lager beer, Fayrouz, Climax, Maltex, Hi Malt, and a host of others.
The historic journey commenced in June 1949, when the very first bottle of STAR lager beer gracefully flowed from the Lagos Brewery’s bottling lines. The rapid embrace of this brew’s allure set the stage for expansion, prompting the inauguration of a second brewery in Aba. Subsequent milestones marked the establishment of Kaduna Brewery in 1963 and lbadan Brewery in 1982, paving the way for NB’s resounding national and international footprint.
In a transformative move, NB acquired Sona Breweries at Ota and Kaduna, and Life Breweries at Onitsha in 2010. A significant juncture was reached in 2014 with the merger of Consolidated Breweries, makers of 33 export and Williams Dark Ale, solidifying NB’s position as a leading shareholder of Heineken. This strategic alignment bore fruit, ushering in three additional breweries in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State; Awo-Omamma, Imo State; and Makurdi, Benue State.
Beyond its brewing prowess, NB also produces cans, labels, cartons, and bottles. This ecosystem further amplifies NB’s presence, with its network of 26 sales depots across the nation. The realm of NB extends beyond Nigerian shores, as its export arm introduces its diverse array of libations to 13 countries, including the United Kingdom, South Africa, the United States, and the Middle East.
With unwavering dedication to quality, innovation, and consumer satisfaction, Nigerian Breweries Plc has etched an indelible mark in the annals of brewing excellence.
