The brand story
The 7Up story
Sixty-five years is a long time for any company to survive in Nigeria's manufacturing sector, and Seven-Up Bottling Company spent part of 2026 marking the milestone under the tagline 'Celebrating 65 Years of Refreshment and Impact.' The first bottle of 7Up rolled off the line at Ijora on 1 October 1960, the same day Nigeria became independent, and the company has quietly outlasted most of the competitors it started out against, even after leaving the Nigerian Exchange in 2018 when the El-Khalil family bought out remaining public shareholders.
In March 2026, SBC published its latest sustainability report, 'Making a CLEAR Difference,' pointing to water stewardship, waste reduction, and employee wellbeing as areas where the company wants its numbers to do the talking. The 2Sure personal care line, which began in 2020 as a single hand sanitizer, has grown into a small portfolio including antibacterial soap, dishwashing liquid, and multipurpose cleaners, with a fresh Hand & Surface Sanitizer variant launched in March 2026.
On the branding front, flagship partner PepsiCo rolled out a new global visual identity in 2026, with Lagos and Abuja among the cities receiving landmark takeovers as part of the campaign, and SBC widened its community footprint by partnering with SheCan Nigeria to support a mentorship and leadership conference for women in June 2026. SBC still makes its money bottling Pepsi, 7Up, Mirinda, Mountain Dew, and Aquafina across nine plants, shipping them out through more than 200 depots to reach corners of Nigeria that bigger, flashier brands sometimes struggle to cover, while increasingly framing its public story around sustainability metrics and community partnerships alongside its 65-year legacy.
