The brand story
The GTCO story
GTCO enters 2026 having achieved one of the most significant milestones in Nigerian banking history: the listing of its ordinary shares on the London Stock Exchange Main Market on 9 July 2025, making it the first financial institution in West Africa to achieve a UK main-market listing. Around the same period, the Group raised ₦504 billion in capital for its banking subsidiary.
Financially, GTCO posted gross earnings of ₦2.15 trillion for FY2025, essentially flat year-on-year, with profit after tax of ₦865.75 billion, a decline from 2024's record largely reflecting the non-recurrence of a one-off fair value gain rather than a deterioration of the underlying franchise. Core earnings told a stronger story: interest income rose 23.2%, net loans grew 12.4% to ₦3.13 trillion, and total deposits jumped 23.8% to ₦12.87 trillion, with the Group maintaining a Return on Average Equity of 28.3% and a record total dividend of ₦12.76 per share.
GTCO's non-banking businesses scaled meaningfully in 2025: HabariPay grew gross transaction volume 196% to ₦81 trillion, while Guaranty Trust Fund Managers more than doubled assets under management, up 102% to ₦1.32 trillion. The Group maintained best-in-class efficiency metrics for the sector, including a Capital Adequacy Ratio of 43.8% and a Cost-to-Income Ratio of 27.9%, and remains a pioneer in digital banking through its GTWorld app and *737# USSD service, sustaining a distinctive cultural footprint through the GTCO Food and Drink Festival and Fashion Weekend, platforms for creativity and small-business promotion across Africa.
