The brand story
The Dufil story
Established in 1996 as a joint venture between Singapore's Tolaram Group and Indonesia's Salim Group, Dufil Prima Foods introduced Indomie Instant Noodles to Nigeria at a time when the category was virtually unknown locally. Three decades on, Indomie remains the undisputed leader of Nigeria's noodles segment, commanding over 60% market share and firmly embedded as a household staple.
The company's topline growth has been striking: full-year 2024 revenue rose 61.7% to ₦810 billion, and H1 2025 revenue reached ₦528.8 billion, driven by rebounding sales volumes and an expanding West African footprint distributed through more than 1,000 partners. That growth has come with real cost pressure, however: EBITDA margin narrowed to 11.4% in FY2024 and slipped further to 10.4% in H1 2025 as naira weakness and persistent inflation pushed up input costs, and gross debt reached ₦163.6 billion in 2024 following fresh credit drawdowns, a reflection of heavy capital investment rather than distress, given the company's consistent access to debt markets, having issued an aggregate ₦158 billion in commercial paper since 2016 to fund working capital and expansion.
That investment is visible on the ground: Dufil is nearing completion of a new soya oil processing plant and has continued adding capacity at its flour and noodles facilities across Ota, Kaduna, and Port Harcourt, part of a long-standing backward-integration strategy. Beyond noodles, Dufil's diversified portfolio spanning Power Oil, Emperor Oil, Power Pasta, and Minimie snacks reinforces its position as one of Nigeria's broadest FMCG operators. The Indomie Independence Day Award, one of Nigeria's most celebrated CSR initiatives, recognises children who have shown exceptional acts of bravery and heroism, alongside ongoing commitments to education, youth empowerment, and community health.
