Local assembly in Lagos and a first push into electric vehicles.

GAC

GAC Motor Nigeria is the local arm of China's Guangzhou Automobile Group (GAC), run by CIG Motors Co. Ltd, a subsidiary of Choice International Group and the exclusive GAC distributor in Nigeria. The brand is led by the Chairman, Chief Diana Chen. CIG began Nigerian operations in 2014 with the GA3 saloon and GS5 SUV, and has since added more GAC models and partner brands including Wuling, JMC and Dongfeng.

Its biggest shift has been local assembly. In a joint venture with the Lagos State Government, CIG inaugurated a 35,000 square metre plant in Ogba, Lagos, on October 24, 2023. It was built to assemble 5,000 vehicles a year in its first phase, with a full-capacity ambition of 50,000. The plant assembled 2,000 vehicles within six months. Through LagRide, the state-backed e-hailing scheme, 1,000 GAC GS3 units were put to work on Lagos roads.

The current range includes the GA4 sedan, GS3, GS4 and the All New GS8 seven-seater flagship, introduced in early 2026. In February 2026 the company also launched the GAC AION Y EV, with a 410 km range, marking its entry into electric mobility. Showrooms operate in Lagos and Abuja. Local assembly, an EV push and government-backed ride-hailing make the brand one to watch in 2027.
