A digital-first commercial bank with fast-growing profits.

Globus Bank

Globus Bank Limited is a digitally driven Nigerian commercial bank that opened for business in November 2019 and has grown quickly into a national bank. Managing Director and CEO Elias Igbinakenzua says the bank posted a profit within two months of opening, and its first full year, 2020, brought a profit of about ₦5.4 billion. The stated ambition is to become Nigeria's foremost digital bank, using technology, people and service to deliver an "endearing" customer experience.

Expansion has been rapid. By September 2024, Globus had opened 36 branches across all six geopolitical zones and moved its corporate head office to Plot 722 Akinbo Savage, Victoria Island, Lagos. Its 2025 audited results show profit before tax of ₦107.7 billion and profit after tax of ₦82.6 billion, more than double 2024's ₦40.4 billion. Total assets grew 64% to ₦2.58 trillion.

Globus also completed its recapitalisation ahead of the March 2026 deadline, raising more than ₦200 billion in paid-up capital to keep its national licence. Fitch assigned it a first-time 'B-' rating with a stable outlook, citing zero impaired loans in 2025 and a 23.7% core capital ratio. Local agencies Agusto & Co. and GCR also reaffirmed its national rating of 'A-'. With strong profitability, a clean loan book and fresh capital, Globus enters 2027 among Nigeria's most closely watched mid-tier banks.
