Glovo
Consumer · DeliveryDelivery Hero's platform, with Nigeria as its fastest-growing market.
Glovo is a Spanish on-demand delivery platform, part of the Delivery Hero group, that entered Nigeria in 2021. The app delivers restaurant meals, groceries, pharmacy items and other goods within minutes through a network of independent couriers. Reni Onafeko, who rose from Head of Growth to General Manager, now leads the Nigerian business.
Nigeria has become central to Glovo's growth story. The company says it was its fastest-growing market in 2025 and remains so in 2026, across its 21-country footprint. It reports cumulative investment of more than ₦54 billion since 2021, and says it has facilitated the delivery of over 40 million items. Operations cover four cities, Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt and Ibadan, with plans to reach underserved locations beyond them.
Glovo's strategy leans on small and medium businesses. Its Glovo Academy programme supported roughly 1,500 stores in 2025 with training and visibility, and its annual Future of Commerce Summit in Lagos, now in its second edition, brings together policymakers, entrepreneurs and technology leaders. It competes against local rival Chowdeck and HeyFood as well as other international players.
Rapid growth has brought scrutiny, including customer and rider complaints about service quality. With strong momentum, deep backing and an expansion push, Glovo Nigeria is a brand to watch in 2027.
