PremiumTrust Bank

Banking

One of Nigeria's fastest-rising banks since its 2022 launch.

PremiumTrust Bank

PremiumTrust Bank is a Nigerian commercial bank licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). It opened on April 19, 2022, with a single branch in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, and was founded by Emmanuel Efe Emefienim, who serves as CEO. Its stated vision is to be the "bank of first preference," built on speed of execution, innovation and customer co-creation.

Growth has been exceptional. Profit after tax rose 327% to ₦39.8 billion in 2024, and in 2025 pre-tax profit jumped to ₦177.1 billion, with total assets of ₦1.7 trillion. In August 2025 the bank raised more than ₦200 billion in 19 months through a rights issue and private placement, meeting the CBN's national-bank capital requirement seven months before the March 2026 deadline. Its network has grown to 33 branches, with recent openings in Irrua, Owerri and Yenagoa.

Agusto & Co. and DataPro upgraded its credit ratings in 2026, citing a 40.8% capital adequacy ratio, a 0.2% non-performing loan ratio and a pre-tax return on equity of 84.6%, which Agusto called the highest in Nigerian banking. On the digital side, the Blayzz App, launched in March 2025, attracted more than 120,000 customers in under a year. With a planned South-East expansion and fresh capital, PremiumTrust enters 2027 as one of Nigeria's fastest-rising banks.
