The brand story
The Channels story
Channels Television built its case on a simple premise back in 1992: that a privately owned Nigerian station could compete with state broadcasting on credibility rather than government backing. Three decades on, that premise has made Channels the default reference point for television news in Nigeria and the most decorated broadcaster in the country. In April 2026, at the second edition of the Nigeria Broadcasting Awards organised by the Broadcasting Organisations of Nigeria, Channels TV won Television Station of the Year for the sixteenth time, beating out Arise News and TVC in a competitive field, a total no other broadcaster in the country is close to matching, alongside a 2014 International Emmy for Best TV Station, the first African broadcaster to win the category, and a combined haul of well over 400 local and international awards accumulated across the station's history.
Sunrise Daily continues to anchor the morning news cycle, Politics Today remains a fixture of policy discussion in Abuja, and Business Morning holds its place as a reference point for the Nigerian economy each day. Around that core lineup, Channels has built a footprint few Nigerian broadcasters can match: bureaus in London, Washington DC, Dubai, and Johannesburg, plus long-standing content partnerships with CNN, BBC, Sky News, and Voice of America.
Beyond its flagship television operation, the Group continues to operate Channels Academy, its media training arm, and maintains an active push into digital distribution as Nigerian broadcasters work to reach audiences who increasingly consume news outside traditional television schedules.
