The brand story

The Unilever story

A little over a year into the job, Managing Director Tobi Adeniyi delivered the highest profit Unilever Nigeria has posted in its recent history. Audited results for the year ended 31 December 2025 show revenue of ₦214.3 billion, a 43% jump, with profit before tax more than doubling to ₦51.7 billion and net profit rising to ₦32.2 billion from ₦15.1 billion in 2024.

Adeniyi has framed the turnaround around a narrower brand focus, tighter cost discipline, and route-to-market expansion, what he calls a 'play to win' culture. Knorr and Rexona were the standout performers, and the Foods segment alone generated ₦127.8 billion, the clearest evidence yet that the 2024 decision to exit Home Care and Skin Cleansing brands (OMO, Sunlight, Lux, Lifebuoy) and concentrate on Nutrition, Personal Care, and Beauty & Wellbeing is paying off.

There is a global thread worth watching too: in March 2026 Unilever Plc announced a $45 billion deal to spin off its global food business, a division that includes Knorr, Unilever Nigeria's biggest local earner, and merge it with McCormick & Company, the American spice maker behind French's mustard and Cholula hot sauce, meaning Knorr's Nigerian performance is now tied to a transaction being negotiated thousands of miles away. The Sustainable Living Plan remains the umbrella for the company's health, hygiene, and nutrition work, and the Pepsodent Oral Health Campaign continues to reach schoolchildren with free dental checkups. Unilever Nigeria also remains a founding member of the Food and Beverage Recycling Alliance, pushing plastic recovery efforts as part of a wider circular economy push across the FMCG sector.
