Understanding The Brand Strength Measurement (BSM) Index

The Brand Strength Measurement (BSM) Index is a qualitative, non-financial evaluation model designed to measure a brand's ability to deliver on its promise to consumers. It assesses brand strength using key consumer decision drivers, including visibility, perception, leadership, and societal relevance.

Unlike financial rankings that measure turnover or market capitalization, the BSM Index isolates the intangible asset that actually determines long-term brand equity: what people believe about the brand, and how strongly they act on that belief.

Seven pillars feed into the final score, from Top-of-Mind Awareness to Corporate Social Responsibility, each weighted to reflect how Nigerian consumers actually make decisions, not how a spreadsheet assumes they do.
